Measuring diversity is not as easy of a task as it seems. Counting the number of people from different ethnicities, religions, and cultural backgrounds isn’t enough. There are certain criteria for measuring the amount of diversity an organization possesses.
Many such organizations are pretty ignorant about their diversity measurement. But if you are willing to analyze it for your business, we are here to help you out with that. At PAFOW, we have experts who can help judge these criteria and provide a detailed analysis of your company’s diversity quotient.
How To Choose Diversity And Inclusion Metrics
There are several metrics and dimensions for diversity that an individual or organization should consider. The most common ones being gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, culture, etc. Secondarily you could consider education, marital status, religious belief, experience with work, habits, interests, the pattern of communication and overall mindset.
The secondary ones are such that are typically ignored and not taken into account. But these also amount to the diversity of your organization.
Diversity And Inclusion Measures That You Could Take
We recommend every organization check their hiring policy and the situation of their recruitment process. It is oddly common that the application list contains a widely diverse set of applicants, but the candidates recruited are surprisingly similar. This is because of a thing called recruitment bias. Removing this might help.
On the other hand, is your entry-level team highly diverse, but your top-level employees or leaders are not? That is a sign of low overall diversity. The inclusion factor in the higher posts is pretty low, and it needs some changes.
You can do something called “blind hiring” which removes all kinds of bias and lets your organization blindly recruit people solely based on their qualification. You can also conduct surveys and use DI tools. In case you yourself can’t, we at PAFOW can do it for you.
